About

Future Voices International is a pioneering grass-roots level organisation enabling young people living in hardship the chance to be heard. Future Voices International is a cascade training program that is creating summer empowerment schools in deprived regions of the world. The aim of the project is to teach, and bring to the realisation of young people that they do have a voice, and a right to be heard. We aim to give young people a chance to be part of the information age, helping them express themselves creatively through media and giving the participants a platform to share their stories with the world.

The first pilot phase of this project was based in Pachacutec, one of the largest shantytowns in Peru. Located on the outskirts of Lima inhabiting over 165,000. The second phase took place in Rincon del Valle, Bogotá, Colombia. These places are mainly inhabited by young families and children, inequalities faced by these young individuals are overwhelming, growing up in a society where they feel segregated and cut off from the world.

As we started work in South Asia, we have seen the massive need for vocational skills. In Bangladesh and Nepal there is opportunities to individuals who have the correct skill-sets and we are attempting to help fill these gaps.

To date we have worked with over 2000 young people from Latin America, Europe and South Asia.

Young people living in theses community have little options or chances to develop, thus creating youth apathy leading to issues such as drug addiction and crime. We aim to inspire and get young people back into mainstream education or employment.

This project aims to improve social participation and raise awareness on the issues faced by young people living in hardship. Every individual has a story to tell and they lack both the technical ability in addition to a platform to share their stories with the world.

The project has five main objectives:

  • Bridging the digital divide: providing the resources and skills needed to effectively participate as a digital citizen.
  • Improving social cohesion: increase mutual trust and understanding between the different social backgrounds and age ranges.
  • Raising awareness: sharing the participant’s stories and important issues on an international scale.
  • Children’s Rights: giving young people a platform to exercise their rights, through expressive media
  • Education & Employability: Returning young people to mainstream education or equip them with skills for employment.

Future Voices International is the start of a new beginning for its participants, helping change their lives for the better with the possibilities to create national change through political reform.
